In the early rounds Blendo, a spinning dome-shaped robot of heavy steel, launched pieces of its competitors right over the Plexiglas shield.

     "We set out to build the most destructive thing we could come up with," said Jamie Hyneman, head of the team of movie model builders who entered Blendo. "We feel very proud of this machine."
